Location
The Orpheus Valley complex is located in the beautiful Bulgarian resort Pamporovo. Pamporovo, the pearl of the Bulgarian mountain resorts, is situated in the heart of the Rhodopes, some 260 km away from the capital Sofia, 85 km to the south of Plovdiv and 15 km from Smolyan. Just a single day on the ski track is enough to provide you with lovely sun tan, because this place is considered one of the sunniest highland resorts in Bulgaria where the number of sunny days is over 240. The climate is mild and with great Mediterranean influence. The average annual temperature is 8.5" C, while the snow cover is 140-150 cm. The altitude of the resort is 1.650 m, the highest peak Snezhanka is 1.926 m. Neither the extreme weather changes, nor the avalanches are typical for Pamporovo, and in this way your peace and safety during the holiday are guaranteed. If you haven't learned how to ski thus far, don't worry– the ski-schools in Pamporovo are some of the best in Europe! Highly qualified ski instructors teach beginners in groups or individually. The ski runs in Pamporovo are with different levels of difficulty, so regardless whether you are beginners or experienced skiers, skiing down remains an unforgettable pleasure. The facilities working on the runs network of the holiday resort Pamporovo are with capacity of 8 600 people per hour. There are nine ski tows, as well as nine lifts /chairlifts/, which allow the fast and comfortable movement of the skiers. The new four-seat chairlift of the Doppelmayer company –Austria is with capacity of 2 000 people per hour -79 chairs of 4 seats each, with length of 734 meters. An automatic snowmaking system /completely automatic/ of the Austrian company Sufag was installed with total length of snow covering 2 134 m. It creates conditions for use of the runs from the end of November until mid-April. The access to the facilities is controlled by a Ski Date chip card.
